advice on the best shutter speed

Hi to all contax users,
I have just purchased a zeiss 200mm telephoto lense for my contax aria can any of you recommend the best shutter speed for a hand held shot to limit camera shake as much as possible. I remember reading somewhere that it is best to use a shutter speed faster than the focal length of the lense which would mean 250th of a second or higher , any input on this.
Thanks,

That's good advise. Using a tripod or monopod is going to make the use of slower shutter speeds feasible. But it all depends on what you want to take pictures of.
