Phocus Export vs moving in Finder

I have recently processed some film scans in Phocus. I now want to archive them and found that if I move them in Finder to the Archive folder I get a 350MB image file (.tif) and a small metadata file (.tif.phos). If, on the other hand, I export from Phocus to the achieve folder i get a single 120MB file (.tif) with metadata bound in (that is, if I open the file in say Aperture the metadata and changes show).
Which is the best way to create store my images?
Is there a loss in quality in the smaller exported file?
Any help/explanation anyone could give would be great.
