    The flash work here seems heavy handed and over-used to the point that the image is not scary... except for the blown whites, blocked blacks and harsh drop shadows.

    Next time try shooting at a slower shutter speed to capture more ambient light, and use a diffuser on the flash like a Stofen or LumiQuest soft box.

    One way to create "scary" lighting effect is to turn the camera and flash kit upside down. It's how the horror films use bottom directional lighting to make the monster look more
