Everybody can upload images in this photo gallery for free and participate in the discussion about images. From the beginner up to the professional. No matter which brandname, both analogue and digital.

But this photo gallery is not an online-photo-album, to throw all the photos of your last vacation into it. Since every photo is looked by thousands of people and get commented by some users, vacation snap-shots would be not appropriate.

Basic Scanning Tips

This is only a basic step by step approach to get good results for scanning and uploading your photos. Please are aware, that if you want to get really high quality scans, you have to use your photo-software with some more techniques then described here.

Scan you pictures/slides with a decent pixel-resolution and save them as photoshop psd file on your computer. Do not yet set any restrictions for pixelsize or size in KB. Open the scan afterwards in Photoshop set the maximum pixel size. Save that setting. If you want to get the best quality for that scan you can do so by using different techniques like unsharpening etc. Please are aware that you should do the unsharpening as the last step in image editing.

After the image is looking like you want it to look, go within photoshop to the navigation bar "file" and in that drop-down menu click on "save for web...". Now a new window is opening with the titel "save for web". On the upper right hand border of that screen, there is a tiny little black triangle - directly below the button "finish". Click on that triangle. A drop-down menu appears. Click in that drop-down menu on "optimize file size". A small window pops up. Enter in the box within this small window the maximum allowed file size in KB - on this board it is 130KB. Click "o.k." Now you are back in the old screen and see the optimized image with 130KB. Now check in the upper right corner that the file-type is really jpeg format. This gives the best results for webpublishing.. Save now the image on your harddisk. Give your image an appropriate name, please no numbers. Remember the location of that image i.e. on the desktop. Go to the photo-gallery, login, click on the appropriate categorie and then on upload. Search your new image, give it a descriptive title and submit. That's all.

How to get a higher userlevel?

You can upgrade to a higher userlevel at any time. With a higher userlevel, you have more disk space and more features. Just click on subscribe for the desired userlevel. We can not pay back the margin between the old and the new userlevel, since this would cost us more than you would get.

What is the difference between private and public albums?

Private albums are not accessable for other users, except you would send them the access code for the specific album. A public album is accessable for everyone, unless you mark it later as private. You can switch back and forth as often as you want to.

Can I switch albums to private / non accessable for others?

Yes, you can switch back and forth as often as you want to.

How to get notification if new comments on my own photos or on other images have been made?

1. Comments on your own photos

When you upload your photos, there is a small drop-down menu which is by default set on "yes" for receiving comments on your own images. Whenever a comment is made, you will get an e-mail to inform you about that comment.

If you switch this on "no", you will not receive this e-mail alert. You can change that at any time later on as often as you want to. Simply go to your photo (while being logged into the gallery) and click below that image on "Receive Email Updates". From that moment on you receive an e-mail as soon as a new comment was made. If you want to turn that off again, go again to that image and click below the photo now on "Disable Email Updates".

2. Comments on photos of other users

You can also get informed about comments on photos, which you find very interesting, but are not your own photos. In that case you are curious what others might think about that photo too. It is basically the same procedure as above.

How to get notification if new photos are uploaded?
